Introduction to Japanese Chess
Keigo Arai, Sho Sato
Fri Jan 14, 06-07:30pm, 4-153

No enrollment limit, no advance sign up
Single session event

This course is an introduction to Japanese Chess (Shogi).

Shogi is a two-player board game in the same family as Western chess and Chinese Xiangqi. What makes Shogi unique among them is that a player may take a piece that had been previously captured and place it again. It is this rule that makes it the hardest for computer programmers to beat the highest rated player of Shogi.

We will learn how to move pieces for the first 20 minutes and then enjoy playing Shogi after that.
