Successful negotiation of intellectual property (IP) business agreements between US and Japanese companies is very challenging. This class will discuss successful tips and pitfalls, as well as common misunderstandings and troubles surrounding the negotiation of US/JP License Agreements, Joint R&D agreements, NDAs, and Letters of Intent. The course will also discuss patent litigation in the US and Japan, and discuss how to improve negotiation skills in preparation for US/JP negotiations.
