The MIT Alcohol Screening Day (ASD) is an annual event that provides information about alcohol and health as well as free, anonymous screening for alcohol use problems. The program is designed to provide outreach, screening and education about alcohol's effects on health for members of the MIT community. As part of the program, attendees have the opportunity to complete a brief written questionnaire evaluating their alcohol use and talk privately with a member of the CDSA about their results and next steps. All attendees receive a limited addition ASD Camelbak for participating.
This program is geared towards members of the Class of 2018 as a follow-up to the sexual assault programming done during Orientation.

Physical Education offers courses designed for undergraduate students to complete the 8 point General Institute Requirement and swim requirement. There are over 40 types of courses including: aquatics, dance, individual sports, team sports, fitness, health and wellness, and outdoor education.
Courses meet twice a week for 60 minutes for 4 weeks during IAP, January 5-January 29. Participants must attend first class to secure spot.
Registration for PE is online first come, first serve. Undergraduate registration begins December 3 at 8am and graduate registration begins December 8 at 8am. Registration for all closes Wednesday, December 10 at 1p. Non-students can submit a request to register and will be added to courses if space is available. This class is a practical introduction to meditation for relaxation, concentration, and enhanced insight. We will place attention on our inner life as a balance to the demands of our outer life. We will enrich these basic practices with readings that draw from the poetry and other writings of the Sufis, among whom one may count the well known poets Rumi and Hafiz. There will also be opportunities for discussion. You may be wondering at this point, what is a “Sufi” ? Some have said it is "one who breathes well", or, "the son or daughter of the moment." It could be said that it applies to persons on a path of compassion and wisdom, a path whose steps are learned through direct experience, and are linked in a certain chain of transmission of teaching. What is transmitted, however, is not a dogma, ideology or intellectual "ism", but rather, it is being present to the inner dimension that is our essence. Amongst the Sufis, certain meditation practices and perspectives are used to foster conditions conducive to this mode of experience, and we will be exploring some of these in this class.

We welcome people of all levels to try two powerful martial arts. Taichi, often perceived as slow and an activity elderly do, actually originated as an ancient war technique. You can learn how to use taichi to use your opponent's qi (energy) against them. Kung Fu is an efficient martial art such that you block yourself and either kick or punch simultaneously. You do not waste any moves. These martial art series are taught by instructor Huan Zhang of Huan's Taichi who has over 25 years of experiencing in teaching both disciplines. Lessons are free, so take advantage of it!!
