This art developed in Brazil from a variety of African sources NÆgolo from Angola, rhythms from Congo, and acrobatics from Guinea combined to form a martial art disguised as a dance and played like a game. All these elements together with a deliberate sense of fun result in a vigorous workout for the body and mind.

"For Students, By Students"
...is the motto of the MIT IM program. This is to signify the tremendous effort that students put forth to organize and manage leagues, captain teams, and participate on the IM Council and IM Executive Committee. IM's at MIT have a great tradition dating back decades upon decades, but to keep this program running it takes dedication and commitment from students at various levels - Executive Committee members, Athletic Chairs, Captains, Managers, and most importantly, all of the PARTICIPANTS!
Mission Statement
The mission of the Department of Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation is to bring students, faculty, and staff together in educational activities that promote healthy lifestyles, enhance a sense of community, foster growth in leadership and teamwork skills, and encourage the pursuit of excellence. The Intramural Office is dedicated to providing opportunities to engage in physical activity and fellowship in an organized sports environment.

Have you dreamed about chartering a cruising sailboat in some far-off location? Do you want to give offshore (bluewater) sailing a try? Even if you just want to be one of those annoying people who point out the 10 things that Robert Redford did wrong in “All is Lost”, this shore school is for you. This course is designed as an introduction to offshore cruising and racing for sailors. The seven lectures will cover the basic knowledge necessary for safe and efficient offshore sailing. There are no prerequisites for this course, but some previous sailing experience is desirable.
