For students who have some background in Spanish but who lack the communicative skills or grammatical foundation for second-semester Spanish. Provides the oral and listening comprehension practice necessary to bring students to the communicative competence equivalent of those who have completed one semester of Spanish at MIT. Grammar review through classroom activities, readings, and writing. Students work with a subset of the video materials used in 21F.701.

Uses case studies adapted from these fields, as well as newspaper, magazine, and WWW resources, in order to acquire vocabulary and develop communication skills and cultural awareness. Also involves simulations based on real situations or crises.
