Research for the Emerging Culture

Design research, design proposal, and design implementation all can be called interrogative when they take a risk in exploring, articulating, and responding to the questionable conditions of life. Interrogative design questions the very worlds of needs of which it is born. It responds interrogatively to the needs that should not, but unfortunately do, exist in the present "civilized" world.

The Interrogative Design Group's goal is to combine art and technology into design while infusing it with emerging cultural issues that play critical roles in our society yet are given the least design attention.

Our designs intend to examine, expose and respond to critical cultural issues by provoking and inspiring new questions.

The Interrogative Design Group is located at the Center for Advanced Visual Studies CAVS at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology MIT in Cambridge, Massachusetts in the United States.
