Industry: Sustainable Design / Materials / Technologies
Company Description: Ecolect was founded in 2005 in response to the growing need to easily source and obtain sustainable materials. We built the world’s first and easiest to navigate web site for sourcing eco-materials and made it available to everyone in the design and architecture community. With rich resources and connections, the site made it easier for individuals and companies to find green materials for a variety of projects. Today, our database catalogs materials for industries such as architecture, product design, fashion, graphic design, and many more. We created a quarterly subscription service called GreenBox, which allows companies to receive the latest in sustainable materials.
In addition, our Material Petting Zoo travels from conferences to business, exhibiting eco-material information and samples. Our team has completed product design and graphic design work for the following clients: Staples, LG, Urban Outfitters, GM, Chronicle Books, and Conair. With our diverse backgrounds, we have an authentic and unique approach to improving sustainability and performance throughout each client’s company. With our design expertise and materials knowledge, we help companies craft and brand new products (and re-craft existing ones) in exciting and positive ways that minimize impacts on the environment and optimize business performance. We provide services in the areas of branding, industrial design, graphic design, life cycle assessment, competitive auditing, eco-friendly packaging, and of course procurement of sustainable materials and manufacturing.
How it is Socially and/or Environmentally Conscious: Now that sustainability is becoming important to more people, we need to define its many levels and create tools to help implement those standards.
