As of 4 August 1999, Netscape Communicator 4.61 is the default Netscape browser under Athena. When you select Netscape from an Athena workstation Dash menu, or type the following at the athena% prompt:
add infoagents
netscape &
you should get Netscape 4.61. To check what version of Netscape you're running, see the following URL:
If you would like to run the previous version, type the following at the athena% prompt:
add infoagents
netscape-4.05 &
Netscape 3.01 is still supported. To run it, type the following at the athena% prompt:
add infoagents
netscape-3.01 &
There are several major incompatibilities between Netscape 3.01 and Netscape 4.x that may require a user's action. For information on this, and on changes in the default settings from 4.05 to 4.61, see the page on default settings changes.
