Campus Tours

For general campus tour Information please call
(617) 253-4795, Monday-Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm.

Regularly scheduled student-led campus tours are conducted Monday through Friday at 11:00 AM and at
3:00 PM, excluding legal U.S. holidays and the Winter Break period (typically December 15th-January 4th).

The campus tours depart from the Building 7 Lobby, located at 77 Massachusetts Avenue, and generally last 75-90 minutes. The tours cover some of the most popular areas of the campus including the Student Center, the Zesiger Athletic Center, Kresge Auditorium, the Chapel, the Infinite Corridor, and the Stata Center-to name just a few of the many locations! There is no charge for the campus tours for small groups, and you do not need to make a reservation.

Holidays and Institute events affect the tour schedule periodically throughout the year. Please check the MIT Events Calendar for summer tour departure locations and holiday dates when tours may not be offered.

Reservations are not required for groups of less than 8 individuals. If you have a group consisting of 12 individuals or more, please see the next section regarding private tours. If your group consists of between 8 and 12 people, please email Private Group Tour with your request to join the regular campus tour.

Undergraduate Admissions Information Sessions are conducted prior to the campus tours during most of the year except for dates posted on the Admissions Office website. Check the Admissions Office website for session times, dates sessions are not offered, and any updates.

Private Group Tours

For groups of 12 or more, please contact Private Group Tour at least two weeks prior to your visit regarding the possibility of scheduling a private tour of MIT's campus. You should specify the following information in your email:

1. The exact date and requested start time of the tour

2. The approximate number of individuals attending the tour

3. The composition of the group (i.e. high school seniors)

For more information on prices and policies, please click here.

Private tours are typically confirmed no earlier than 1-2 weeks before the proposed date of the tour.

All tours are conducted in English. The MIT Information Center does not offer translation services.

The private tours do not include an Admissions Information Session or a meeting with an Admissions representative, this has to be arranged separately.

Private tours are not conducted during the following times of the year:

Legal U.S. holidays

Winter Break (typically December 15th-January 4th)

Spring Vacation

Commencement Period: mid-May to mid-June

We will make every effort to accommodate your private tour request. However, the private tours are always subject to the availability of MIT's student tour guides. If we are unable to secure a tour guide for your group, then a self-guided walking tour is a viable alternative. 11x17 inch copies of this document are available in the Information Center during regular business hours.
