MIT Strategies
Over the past several years, MIT designed several plans of action and put resources in place to address data protection and compliance issues.
| Strategy | Description |
|---|---|
| DIRT | The Data Incident Response Team (DIRT) - established in the Fall of 2007 - is designed to respond to and remediate data security incidents if they occur at MIT. |
| Merchant Services | MIT is implementing the Payment Card Industry's (PCI) Data Security Standards for MIT-affiliated merchants. |
| PII Program | The objective of this program (2007-2010): to identify and, where possible, reduce the places at MIT where Social Security numbers (SSN) are collected or recorded. |
| WISP | Effective March 1, 2010, MIT created a Written Information Security Program (WISP) in response to Massachusettes regulations. |
