MIT Strategies

Over the past several years, MIT designed several plans of action and put resources in place to address data protection and compliance issues.

Strategy Description
DIRT The Data Incident Response Team (DIRT) - established in the Fall of 2007 - is designed to respond to and remediate data security incidents if they occur at MIT.
Merchant Services MIT is implementing the Payment Card Industry's (PCI) Data Security Standards for MIT-affiliated merchants.
PII Program The objective of this program (2007-2010): to identify and, where possible, reduce the places at MIT where Social Security numbers (SSN) are collected or recorded.
WISP Effective March 1, 2010, MIT created a Written Information Security Program (WISP) in response to Massachusettes regulations.
