The Rockport High School InvenTeam is inventing an automatic deployment device for Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRBs) for medium to large commercial boats, which will weigh between 1½ to 2½ pounds. This invention will automatically deploy an EPIRB 40-60 feet away in the event of a sudden capsizing of the boat. This deployment distance will help prevent the EPIRB from being trapped beneath the overturned boat, or dragged under by loose gear or nets.
