Electric motorcycle with compressible "crush zones" for urban commuter safety
The Saint Thomas Academy InvenTeam will invent a safer electric motorcycle to be used by urban commuters. The motorcycle will travel 50 miles before needing to be recharged by an on-board 110 Volt charger. The recharge time will be under three hours. The frame and body of the motorcycle will include crush zones, designed to help protect the driver in the event of a collision.
The InvenTeam received a 2009 Continuation Grant.
