The Boy Scout Troop 703 InvenTeam invented a system for extricating bariatric (morbidly obese) patients when EMS/rescue personnel receive calls to move patients weighing from 400 to 1,000 pounds. It will allow rescuers to extricate these larger, heavier patients from small, cramped spaces with fewer crewmembers while minimizing the risk of injuries to both the rescue crew and the patient. The device will be washable with disinfectant and is able to be used within the typical 10 minute “scene time” the rescue squad has at a rescue site.
