Solar dry heat sterilizer
The East Central High School InvenTeam invented a rapid heat transfer sterilizer that will provide a way for mobile or isolated medical teams to sterilize surgical or dental instruments without relying on local power or water sources or dangerous chemicals. This device can be set up and working within one hour, including warm up time, and operated by one person. Focused sunlight will bring a heating element up to over 205 degrees C (400 deg F). Air will be circulated through that heating element and a sterilization chamber in a closed loop allowing instruments to be sterilized within 15 minutes. The device will be stored in two portable cases and will cost less than $1000 to build using modern mass production methods. |
