Natural emergency relief filtration station
The Northeast High School InvenTeam invented an emergency water filtration system for disaster relief in tropical regions, using natural materials such as sand, cotton, coconut husk, and palm bark for filter construction. The station will provide clean water for the affected population and aide workers, through access of an outdoor shower and potable water, thus reducing the risk of water borne bacteria, such as Vibrio cholera and E.coli. Our invention can be used in tropical regions, where water contamination is possible, such as Haiti’s Tent Cities; it can be utilized by relief organizations such as Red Cross and Food For the Poor because it is collapsible (into three easily transportable parts) while weighing only thirty kilograms and maintaining EPA drinking water standards. |
