Spotlight on Energy Innovation

Don't Worry About the Government?

The LEED-NC "Green Building" Rating System and Energy Efficiency in U.S. Commercial Buildings
By David M.Hart

Historical Case Studies

What worked and what didn’t work in earlier U.S. energy innovation initiatives and why? Several historical case studies are being carried out to gain insight into this question. The cases include: voluntary standard-setting (LEED building standard); technology-forcing regulation (California ZEV regulations); state-level deployment policies (solar photovoltaics in New Jersey); and federal RD&D programs (DOE clean coal research program).
