Travel Information

Arrival by Air

When you arrive at Logan International Airport, you are approximately five miles from MIT. We recommend traveling by taxi, which is the most convenient way of getting to the campus or to the University Park Hotel @ MIT. The taxi fare to the campus or to the hotel is approximately $20.00, regardless of the number of passengers. During rush hour, you should allow yourself at least an hour for travel time.

If you prefer the MBTA subway service, which is $1.00 per trip, take the free shuttle bus service from the airline terminal to the Blue Line Airport Station and then the subway. You need to change to the Green Line and then to the Red Line. The conference site at MIT is close to the Red Line Kendall/MIT Station. University Park Hotel @ MIT is about a 10-minute walk from the Red Line Central Square Station.

The Boston Coach car service can provide a chauffeured limousine or a New Yorker sedan for travel between the airport and the hotel or the conference site. To contact them, call 1-800-672-7676. For best service, you will need to provide the airline name, flight number and arrival time. The approximate price is $50.

For more transportation options from Logan airport, including car rentals and shared vans, you can check out the Logan Airport Information Site.

Arrival by Train

When you arrive in Boston at the South Station train depot, you can take the MBTA Red Line subway train at South Station to Kendall/MIT Station or Central Square Station. It is a short ride. Taxi service is also available from South Station.

Arrival by Car

MIT is located in Cambridge on Memorial Drive, a major roadway in the region's highway system. From the west and northwest, there is access to Memorial Drive from the Massachusetts Turnpike (Interstate 90) and Route 2. From the north (Interstate 93/Southeast Expressway), the suggested approach is to connect with Storrow Drive in Boston via the central artery bridge ways, heading west on Storrow Drive. Take the Massachusetts Avenue exit onto Harvard Bridge, which crosses the Charles River and leads you straight to MIT's main entrance at 77 Massachusetts Avenue (Building 7). If you are heading to the University Park Hotel @ MIT, after four lights from Harvard Bridge, turn left onto Sidney Street. For more information on getting to the hotel, consult the Hotel's Direction page.

There is no conference parking available on MIT campus. Public parking is available at the Hyatt Regency Hotel (575 Memorial Drive) and in the garage located next to the University Park Hotel @ MIT located off Massachusetts Avenue on 20 Sidney Street. There is also a small public lot on the corner of Vassar Street and Massachusetts Avenue. Rates are approximately $18.00 per day.

For additional information or directions to MIT, check Getting to MIT. For the University Park Hotel @ MIT, visit their direction page.
