Recent Alumni Survey
Each Fall, MIT administers a survey to all alumni, Undergraduate and Graduate, who received their degree three years earlier. The Recent Alumni Survey, also known as the What are you doing now? Survey, is intended to be a concise way to check in with our recent alumni and get a better idea of their career and educational trajectories after graduation and before our more comprehensive alumni surveys done 5+ years after graduation.

Recent Findings (2012 Recent Alumni Survey)
- Overall, 76% of respondents listed "working" as their primary activity, and 21% of respondents listed "attending graduate or professional school" as their primary activity.
- When looking at bachelor's respondents, 63% listed "working" as their primary activity, and 35% listed "attending graduate or professional school" as their primary activity.
- 82% of master's respondents listed "working" as their primary activity, and 14% listed "attending graduate or professional school" as their primary activity.
- For doctoral respondents, 93% said that "working" was their primary activity, and 5% listed "seeking employment" as their primary activity.
- For those primarily working, overall, Massachusetts was listed as the work location with most respondents (30%), followed by California (22%) and New York (11%).
Of those primarily attending graduate or professional school, most respondents are attending school in Massachusetts (35%), followed by those attending school in California (24%). - Read more in the 2012 Highlights.
