Guide for Creating Teams

Guide for Creating Teams:

Contentious or "Hot Button" Issues

Overview
There are issues that arise which can create controversy within a team. Certain issues may elicit strong reactions within a team. Other instances may arise where an issue may impact certain members more favorably or unfavorably than others.

It may be useful to hold a meeting to work through such concerns. This session requires careful planning and in many cases a facilitator from outside the team may be helpful.

At Regular Intervals
Teams can benefit by regularly stepping back to do team building and to review their performance. Periodic assessments (every 6 months) encourage team members to look for ways to continually improve and also facilitate their sharing suggestions for empowerment in a constructive manner.
