Guide for Creating Teams:

Standing Team Information

Definition

A group of people working together on an ongoing basis through a defined process on shared goals, where the tasks are interdependent and there is ownership for the outcomes.

Standing Teams may sometimes be referred to as process teams to reflect their ownership for a set of steps which constitute a process which produces certain outputs.


Elements a Team Needs

  • Common mission or purpose
  • Shared goals and measures
  • There is a clear process for which the team is responsible
  • Work is interdependent
  • Responsible for delivering specific products or services
  • Established communication and meeting practices
  • Team members are cross trained
  • Team leader has defined responsibilities
  • Membership is ongoing
