All new incoming students are required by immigration law to attend an immigration session upon arrival to MIT. Please remember to also complete your iMIT pre-arrival online check-in prior to the session.

Welcome to the International Students Office (ISO) at MIT. The ISO serves all incoming and currently enrolled international students at the Institute. The ISO assists students in maintaining their legal status in the United States, provides support for their dependents, and promotes interaction with and integration into the MIT community at large.

ISO Welcomes David Elwell – David Elwell has been named associate dean and director of the International Students Office (ISO). Elwell comes to the position with over 20 years of experience in student and academic affairs. [Read more]

ISO Walk-In Appointments Suspended – Walk-in hours are suspended August 17 - September 3 due to incoming student orientation. Please call to schedule appointments.

Newly Redesigned I-20 Form – Beginning June 26, 2015, any newly printed Form I-20 will be in a the new format. [Read more]

Summer/Fall Travel – If you plan to travel during the upcoming season, please read our travel advisory page to be prepared for re-entry to the US. Remember to check your I-94 arrival/departure form for accurate entry information when you return.

Practical Training – If you need work permission after graduation, remember to apply for Optional Practical Training or Academic Training before you graduate.
