IS&T Job Families
During 2005, IS&T job titles were reviewed and change implemented to:
- Make career paths (managerial, technical
leader) more explicit, and similarly valued/rewarded (e.g., technical leaders have similar salary and job level
opportunities as managers)
- Ensure titles are descriptive of actual work (but not redefine what staff are now doing)
- Provide internal consistency
(within IS&T and MIT)
- Be explainable (e.g., not overly complex)
- Align with Department of Labor Fair Labor Standards Act definition of exempt
