The MIT FileMaker User Group (fmug) was formed for people at MIT, from beginners to experts, who are using FileMaker® Pro database software and related products.

Meetings take place in the N42 Demo Center on the first Friday of the month at 12 noon. A typical meeting might run as follows:

  • Announcements (first 10 minutes) Updates on the product or related services at MIT.
  • Main Presentation (35 minutes) Each month our meeting is focused around some aspect of FileMaker database software. Topics vary from beginning to advanced features.
  • Discussion (15 minutes) The last 15 minutes are generally reserved for discussion, comments, etc.

Meetings are open to all members of the MIT community.

Each FMUG meeting has a presentation. The following list has links to the handouts distributed at these sessions:

Mailing List

FMUG maintains an email list for meeting announcements, discussions, and information of interest to FileMaker users. This list is only for members of the MIT community. To join or remove yourself from the list, complete this simple form.

FileMaker Guidelines

Recommended guidelines on working with FileMaker in the MIT environment will continue to evolve. Further services offered through DCAD are available to the community through the database services web site. You are also strongly encouraged to follow these Top 11 Security Guidelines (pdf).

FileMaker Links

FileMaker Inc., the publishers of FileMaker, maintain their own web site, including product information, updaters, templates, technical support articles, trial software, and links to other resources. Other web resources of interest include:
