Warning! Don't Give Out Your Password!

Many people on campus received email claiming to be from support@mit.edu. It requested that your password be mailed back to the sender. This message is a fraud and an attempt to steal your password. DO NOT ANSWER IT!

NEVER EMAIL ANYONE YOUR PASSWORD. IS&T will never demand that you mail your password to anyone.

This message is an example of "phishing," where an intruder attempts to steal personal information by sending an official-looking message.

This warning has also been posted to 3DOWN. If you have any questions related to this incident, please contact the Computing Help Desk at 253-1101 or computing-help@mit.edu.
