Warning! Don't Give Out Your Password!

Many people on campus have been receiving email messages telling them that they need to confirm their email address. This message is a fraud and an attempt to steal passwords. DO NOT ANSWER IT! NEVER EMAIL YOUR PASSWORD. IS&T employees will never demand that you mail your password to anyone.

This fraudulent message is an example of "phishing," where an intruder attempts to steal personal information by sending an official-looking message.

This warning has also been posted to 3DOWN. If you have any questions related to this incident, please contact the Computing Help Desk at 253-1101 or computing-help@mit.edu.
