Creating the Spamscreen Folder in WebMail

If you've set up Spamscreen filtering for another IMAP-based email program you use for your MIT email, e.g., Outlook or Eudora (used with IMAP), your Spamscreen folder is already set up.

Note

Note: Everyone with an account created on or after October 4, 2004 will have a Spamscreen folder already created on the main server and will not need to complete the following steps.

Create the Folder

  1. Login to WebMail.

    webmail login screen

  2. Click the Folders link in the toolbar at top of page.

    webmail toolbar

    Result:
    The list of folders appears.

  3. Check the box next to INBOX as shown below.

    folder navigation

  4. Select Create Folder from the Choose Action dropdown list.

    create folder

    Result:
The Create Sub-folder dialog box appears.

  5. In the dialog box, type Spamscreen (without quotes, make sure it's a capital S) and click OK.

    new folder

    Result:
You should have a folder inside your INBOX called Spamscreen. All messages flagged as Spam will automatically go into this folder.

    Alert

Hint: If you get a "Permission denied" message, please make sure you placed a checkmark next to "INBOX" in Step 3, and try again.
