Classes of Service

Class of Service

Description

Class A

A more enhanced service that provides a number of functions such as:

  • personalized greeting
  • extended absence greeting
  • home/guest mailboxes
  • distribution lists
  • outcall notification
  • secretary password
  • 40 second maximum greeting
  • 40 message storage capability
  • 30 day maximum new message storage
  • 14 day maximum old message archive
  • long distance outcalling

Class B1

A basic service that provides a number of functions such as:

  • personalized greeting
  • extended absence greeting
  • distribution lists
  • 40 second maximum greeting
  • 20 message storage capability
  • 14 day maximum new message storage
  • 7 day maximum old message archive
  • on premise outcalling

Class B2

A basic service that provides a number of functions such as:

  • personalized greeting
  • extended absence greeting
  • distribution lists
  • 5 minute maximum greeting
  • 100 message storage capability
  • 14 day maximum new message storage
  • 7 day maximum old message archive
  • local outcalling

Class C

An enhanced call processing service referred to as an Information Tree. There are a number of specialized applications allowing the user control over whether the system directs callers to enter the extension number, voice mailbox number, Information Center Mailbox number, menu selection number or a combination.

Departments that receive a heavy volume of telephone calls are especially strong candidates for this service

Class D

An enhanced call processing service referred to as a Caller's Menu. Callers hear a recorded message presenting a menu of up to 9 options. They may select either a single menu option or enter a mailbox/extension number which will route them to a predetermined mailbox/telephone location.

Class E

An enhanced call processing service referred to as an Information Only Mailbox. May contain an (optional) opening greeting followed by one or more messages or announcements. Most useful for applications where information needs to be disseminated and responses from callers are not anticipated or required.
*A contributor's class A or B mailbox is needed in conjunction with the Information Only mailbox.

Class F

An enhanced call processing service referred to as an Information Reply Mailbox. May contain an (optional) opening greeting followed by one or more messages or announcements. After callers listen to each message they are prompted to either replay the message, record a reply to the message, or continue on to the next message without recording a reply.
*A contributor's class A or B mailbox is needed in conjunction with the Information Reply mailbox.

Class G

A basic service referred to as a Transfer Mailbox. An incoming call is routed immediately to a single, predetermined destination without requiring any input from the caller. The call destination can be either another Aspen mailbox or and MIT extension.

If you do not have voice mail and wish to forward your calls to a Primary Directory Number (PDN) that has a voice mailbox, you need to assign a Transfer Mailbox to your telephone number for messages to be left in the voice mailbox.

Class P

Paging: If you have a digital pager, you can program your voice mailbox to page you. The pager shows 258-6245 as the number to call; call into voice mail to retrieve messages as usual. You can set voice mail paging to page you on all messages or only urgent messages. Available on Class A, B, and B2 voice mailboxes.
