MIT TechTime™ on
Oracle Calendar
Overview
MIT TechTime™ is an enterprise-wide personal calendaring system,
based on Oracle Calendar, which runs on a central, secure server. With
TechTime™ you can manage your schedule and coordinate easily with
the schedules of other users. You can also synchronize your calendar
with a Palm OS device.
MIT TechTime™ is available, for free, to any member of the MIT
community with a Kerberos username and password. Access to MIT TechTime™ is
through the web client or the desktop client, and is secure and encrypted.
With MIT TechTime™ on the web or on the desktop client, you can:
- View your calendar entries in various formats.
- Schedule meetings with other MIT TechTime™ users, either individually
or by creating groups.
- Suggest meeting times when others are involved, and check for conflicts.
- Keep track of who has accepted and who has declined a suggested meeting.
- Look at the calendars of other MIT TechTime™ users.
- Control how much of your calendar information others can view.
- Assign Designate rights for another person to work in your calendar.
- Synchronize your MIT TechTime™ calendar with a Palm OS device.
Features available only on the desktop client:
- Print options that include a variety of formats, and easy setting
of date and time ranges.
- Search your own or other MIT TechTime™ user's calendars.
- When viewing other agendas, each calendar opens in a separate window, so that you can have multiple calendars open
at the same time.
- An In-tray that lets you list and manage entries to your calendar.
- Work off-line with your calendar information stored on your computer.
MIT TechTime Resources
Resources in TechTime are anything other than people which can be scheduled.
Resources are generally rooms or equipment, but special types of resources
can be created, such as a group-wide vacation calendar or other scheduling
calendar. For details, see Administering

Activation and Access
Activate Account
To use MIT TechTime™ you must first activate your account.
With a web browser on which you have an MIT personal certificate, go to
the Account Activation page and
click the Activate button. You will get a confirmation
and your account will be available immediately.
Web Access
To access via the web, go to the MIT
TechTime™ login page with any web browser. You can
log in with your MIT personal certificate if that is installed
in the browser, or you can log in with your Kerberos username and password.
Either way, the connection to TechTime™
is secure and encrypted.
Desktop Client
- Download
To access MIT TechTime™ via your desktop
system, you must download
and install a desktop client.
The following pages give more details on the desktop clients:

Before logging into MIT TechTime™ with the desktop client,
you must have active Kerberos tickets.

Built-in Help
Both the desktop and web clients provide
comprehensive online help about procedures for the features of MIT TechTime™
on Oracle Calendar.
In the web client, click on the question-mark icon to
the right of the tool bar.
In the desktop client, go to the Help menu.
Context-sensitive help is available in the function windows of the desktop
client.
On the Macintosh, click on the question-mark icon .
On Windows and Linux, press F1.
