Eudora: Using POP over SSL

Using POP over SSL: Eudora 6.2.3 for Windows

 

  1. Go to the Tools Menu and click on Options.



  2. Under the Mail Server (Incoming) setting, confirm that you have entered your po##.mit.edu instead of hesiod.
    Note: If you do not know your Post Office Server number, you may find out using the online query.




  3. Select the Incoming Mail icon in the left hand panel and match the following settings:



    Note: You must use the "Required Alternate Port" selection or you will receive a network error.

  4. Select the Incoming Mail icon.



    Result: "POP" should be the mail protocol. "Passwords" should be the Authentication style.

  5. Scroll to the Sending Mail icon and confirm that the settings match the following:



    Note: You must use the "Required Alternate Port" selection or you will receive a network error.

  6. Once you have made the changes from Kerberos to SSL authentication, you will receive a "Server SSL Certificate Rejected" message. Click Yes.



  7. Scroll to the Kerberos icon and confirm that Kerberos is OFF. Then click OK.




  8. Once you check your mail, you will be prompted to enter your password. Enter your password and click OK.
