Outline of a Preventative Maintenance Visit

During the bi-annual preventative maintenance visit, the user can expect the following:

  • Evaluation of hardware to ensure that the machine meets Administrative Desktop Renewal Program standards.

  • Complete software evaluation and software updates (applied as needed).

  • Confirmation of anti-virus strategy. This includes:
    • Installation of anti-virus software
    • Setup of automated anti-virus definition file updates
    • Setup of scheduled system scans
    • Full system scan (time permitting).

  • Assistance with implementing a backup strategy (e.g., installation of TSM backup and registration; configuring automated TSM backups; full system backup).

  • Confirmation that MIT Certificates are installed and functioning properly.

  • Evaluation of printers, ensuring there are at least two print options available to the user.

  • Troubleshooting existing problems.

Each visit can last up to two hours depending on the state of the machine.
