Windows Implementation Assistance for ServersOverviewMicrosoft has announced that Windows NT 4 Server will be desupported as of June 30, 2004. MIT has committed to assist Departments, Labs and Centers with the transition from NT 4 domains. MIT Information Services and Technology (IS&T) recommends and supports the Microsoft Windows 2000 Server and Windows Server 2003 product families as the next step for departments, labs, centers (DLCs), and offices migrating from existing Windows NT Server 4.0-based Windows server/domain environments and/or deploying new Windows-based server/domain platforms on MIT's network, MITnet. IS&T fully supports DLCs and offices joining the centrally maintained win.mit.edu Windows Active Directory domain. IS&T also provides infrastructure accommodations that enable the deployment of independent Windows 2000/2003 Active Directory domains on MITnet, and associated, limited support for these accommodations. DITR can provide guidance to DLCs to help decide which is the best direction for domain migration and technical assistance during the process. If your DLC is in need of such assistance, please contact DITR below. Information Services and Technology provides information about supported migration alternatives available via the web. Additionally there is also more information about Microsoft Windows in general on the Windows at MIT page. Contact Information:
