Configure DHCP Settings
Apply the following configurations to your
Ethernet connection and wireless connection
(if applicable). You may need to reboot your
machine for these settings to take effect.
Note: Windows users should
go to Preventing
Reinfection During Cleanup of Your Windows Machine (instructions
apply to non-infected machines as well) prior
to proceeding.
Windows XP
- From the Start menu, open Control
Panel.
- Double-click the Network Connections icon.
- Right-click on the Local Area Connection icon
and select Properties.
- Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and
click the Properties button.
- Select Obtain IP address automatically.
- Select Obtain DNS server address automatically.
- Click OK. Continue backing your way
out of the control panels by clicking OK at
each window.

Windows 2000
- From the Start menu, open Settings and
click on Network and Dialup Connections.
- Double-click on the Local Area Connection icon.
- Click the Properties button.
- Select Obtain IP address automatically.
- Select Obtain DNS server address automatically.
- Click the Advanced… button
in the lower right.
- Select DHCP enabled and click OK.
Continue backing your way out of the control
panels by clicking OK at each window.

OS 10.3 (wired)
- Go to System Preferences>Network.
- From Show, choose Built-in Ethernet.
- Click on the TCP/IP tab.
- From Configure, choose Using DHCP.
- Delete Domain Name Servers.
- Click Apply Now.

OS 10.3 (wireless)
- Go to System Preferences>Network.
- From Show, choose Airport.
- Click on the TCP/IP tab.
- From Configure, choose Using DHCP.
- Delete Domain Name Servers.
- Click Apply Now.

OS 10.2 (wired)
- Go to System Preferences>Network.
- Click on the TCP/IP tab. In the TCP/IP
panel, change Configure Manually to Using
DHCP.
- Delete any Domain Name Servers that
are listed in the Domain Name Servers box.
- Click Apply Now.

OS 10.2 (wireless)
- Go to System Preferences>Network.
- Click on the Airport tab. In the
TCP/IP panel, change Configure Manually to Using
DHCP.
- Delete any Domain Name Servers that
are listed in the Domain Name Servers box.
- Click Apply Now.
