IS&T Computer Training: Registration Information
Registration
Registration
To attend hands-on courses, including free ones, you must register
in advance. You may view the Training Catalog and register
online. Mail payment, if applicable, to N42-290h (see Payment
below). If you have any difficulties or questions, call 617.253.7685
or email <istrain-reg@mit.edu>.
Notification
When you register electronically, you receive immediate confirmation
if you are successfully enrolled in the course. You will also receive
an email reminder one week before the course.
Prerequisites/Core
Skills Assessments
Prerequisites
Some courses have prerequisites. Without the prerequisite course
or equivalent experience, you may not be able to understand the
material and keep up with the instructor's presentation. This knowledge
is your responsibility. If you are unsure of your skill level, we
encourage you to take a self-assessment.
In addition, many IS&T courses need to be taken in a particular
sequence. Refer to the IS&T
Course Map for specific requirements by course topic.
Core Skills Assessments
A skills assessment can help individuals and groups define their
training needs. IS&T Training Services has Skills
Assessment Forms for our Core Computing Skills courses (noted
on the IS&T
Course Map).

Eligibility
All IS&T courses are open to members of the MIT community,
including Alumni. Spouses and family members of MIT faculty and
staff are eligible to attend. If, however, their seat is needed
for a current MIT student, faculty or staff member, we may have
to reschedule them for a future class.

Cancellations/Refunds
Class Cancellations
IS&T Training Services may cancel training courses if fewer than five students enroll. Training Services will
notify registrants if a training session is cancelled and will refund fees where applicable.
Canceling Your Enrollment/Refund Policy
If you are unable to attend a course in which you have enrolled, please provide Training Services with at least
five full business days advance notice. Cancellations received at least five full business days prior to the start
of a course, will receive a full refund. Cancellations received after that date will be charged the full course
fee. To cancel your enrollment online go to SAPweb Self-Service (ESS), click on
the Training tab and choose "My Training".
Canceling due to Emergency
Registered participants who are unable to attend a course due to an emergency should have their manager or a department
representative email the IS&T Training Registrar at istrain-reg@mit.edu (or call 617.253.7685) before 9:00 a.m.
on the day of the course, or 2 hours prior to the start of an afternoon course. If the registered participant is
unable to attend the course, a substitute is welcome to take their place.

Custom
Training (fee-based)
IS&T Training Services can offer any of the courses in its
regular curriculum, as well as selected courses on other commonly-used
software programs:
To Groups
If six or more people in your department have similar training
needs, you can schedule a group class, which can save money and
result in more focused training.
Individually as Tutorials
IS&T Training Services offers fee-based tutorial sessions
on request at your site or ours. You can arrange for a session tailored
to your specific needs.
Based on Demand
If there is a waiting list of six people for a scheduled
course or if six individuals request a non-scheduled course, we
can arrange for a special session.
If you have specialized computer training needs, IS&T Training
Services may be able to accommodate you, either by using existing
resources on campus or by arranging for a class off site through
an outside
vendor.
For information on custom training, call 617.253.7685 or email
