MITvoip: Starting Your Voice Mail

Overview

Voice mail on your MITvoip phone is not very different from your previous voice mail system. You will have the same features with which you are familiar. Plus, there are advanced features available on the MITvoip Web Interface.

Initial Voice Mail Setup

Follow these steps the first time you use your voice mail.

Be sure to record a personal greeting! The default greeting is anonymous even if you record a name announcement. If you don't record your own greeting, your voice mail will not announce your name or number.

  1. Choose a Personal Identification Number (PIN). You will need to enter a new PIN the first time you use your voice mail, so it is a good idea to decide what that number will be before you start the setup. It must be at least four digits and must use only numbers.

  2. From your desk phone, either dial 4-5995 or do the following:
    1. Press Menu and select Features and Messages. (If available, you can press the Messages button instead.)
    2. If you have more than one phone number, the Line Select menu will appear on the display. Use the Up/Down Arrows to select the line you want to access, and press the Select softkey or the Checkmark button to select it.
    3. Press the Connct soft key.

  3. The system will prompt you to enter the default PIN followed by #. The default PIN is your five-digit extension.

  4. You will then hear instructions that will guide you through the following:
    1. Enter the new PIN that you chose in Step 1.
    2. Record your name. Press # to end the recording.
    3. Record a personal greeting.
Note: The default greeting is anonymous. It does not play your name announcement or phone number.

  5. To exit, press the * key. If you wish, you may explore the menu options before you exit.
