Service Enhancements

You can now turn the Missed Calls count and Message Waiting Indicator (MWI) on or off. IS&T added this option because users with multiple lines found the default settings confusing.

You can turn the MWI off separately for each line. Turning off the Missed Calls count disables the Missed Calls list on your phone entirely. However, you can view your missed calls via the MITvoip Web Interface.

To change your settings, see Device Management or contact Telephone Client Support at telephone-help@mit.edu or 3-HELP (617-253-4357).

Online Training Demos

IS&T is creating brief training demos for several MITvoip Web Interface features. You can play these step-by-step narrated walkthroughs in your web browser while trying the features yourself in another window.

The first demos are available now at MITvoip Online Training Demos. Additional demos will be added throughout the summer.

Transition Schedule

View the transition schedule.

The transition team is working closely with DLCs to schedule additional groups and buildings for transition. This schedule will be updated about once each quarter.

Criteria: Is Your Group Ready for MITvoip?

The MITvoip transition strategy includes a set of criteria for identifying when a department, lab, or center (DLC) is ready for transition:

  • New campus buildings will not have traditional phone wiring; telephone service will rely on MITvoip service.

  • IS&T will seek to minimize disruption by coordinating infrastructure updates with events such as group moves or major building renovations.

  • Buildings must have adequate infrastructure to support MITvoip (e.g., wiring, data closets).

  • DLC business readiness is important. IS&T will work collaboratively with each DLC to schedule transitions with minimal impact.

To find out the state of your building's infrastructure, consult this map. [Adobe Reader required.]
