Information Design

Content is the foundation for your web site and the reason people visit your pages. Information design involves reviewing and organizing your site's content and user interface so your target audience(s) can easily find what they're looking for. Information design can be defined as the art and science of structuring and classifying web sites and intranets to help people find and manage information. Information Architecture is the process or organizing and labeling content in a way your audience will understand.

Some tools for Information Design include:

  • Site maps
  • Story boards
  • Wire frames
  • Content matrix

Web Communications Services (WCS) consultants can help you select and develop appropriate tools for your project.

Effective information design will improve user experience and provide greater efficiency in the development and maintenance of your website.
