Web Design Process
Most Website creation or redesign projects follow these three basic stages.
Define
Confirm factors and goals driving the project. Establish the scope, target audience(s), general schedule, and budget of the project. Determine resources for creating and maintaining the site. Evaluate existing or planned content (see Information design). Develop a preliminary site map.
Design
Confirm the site map and information architecture. Develop and refine the visual identity for the site. Refine existing content and develop new content as needed. Review and refine design options. Evaluate the designs for accessibility and usability.
Develop
Build a prototype of the approved design. Review the code for adherence to W3C web standards and MIT guidelines. Confirm file structures and naming conventions. Complete final content. Evaluate the site again for accessibility and usability. After the prototype is approved, program and launch the site. |
