MIT/IS&T Resources

There are many resources within MIT for web publishers to use.

Information Services and Technology' Computing Help Desk (CHD) provides troubleshooting on most web publishing questions. There are consulting services available at no cost to assist you with any web project. MIT's Web Communication Services (WCS) offers consulting and project direction for MIT web communication initiatives. The Academic Computing Support Team (ACST) provides detailed information on creating course web pages, including templates and samples which you can use to get started. The Usability Team will perform reviews of your site's information architecture and visual design. To ensure your site's visual design and coding conventions meet MIT's standards for accessibility contact the Adaptive Technology for Information and Computing (ATIC) lab.

The New Media Center, a Mac cluster, provides the facilities necessary to produce multimedia projects, such as digital video, scanning and photo manipulation and web authoring. It is free of charge, and can be used for publishing Web pages and developing course materials only.

Courtesy of the MIT Libraries, members of the community now have quick, 24-hour online access to the latest IT books. Safari Tech Books Online and Books24x7 are excellent online sources for IT and other technical and business books. They offer books on databases, web design, programming languages, operating systems, networking, security, some business topics, and more. Both are accessible from off-campus with MIT certificates. To find out more about these subscriptions provided by the MIT Libraries go to the IT Books Online page.
