File Transfer to the Web

To transfer files to MIT Web space you need a secure FTP program like FileZilla or SecureFX for Windows; or Fetch for Macintosh. These programs can be downloaded from the Software Download page.

DreamWeaver can also be configured to securely transfer files on either platform. WS_FTP, CuteFTP and unkerberized Fetch (versions 3.03 and below) do not encrypt your password when sending it across the network. MIT Information Services and Technology considers this an unacceptable security risk and now rejects insecure connections. More information on secure connections can be found on Network Security's Secure Connections page.

The Secure File Transfer at MIT page provides detailed information on how to securely move files between your local computer [Mac and PC] and Athena.
