Curiousity and the Teske

Plot Points:
The crew believed the dense object under the Alfa Sigma expedition to be a stasis field. Unwilling to let FedInt get hold of it, they resolved to steal it.
Using a spare engine coolant tube, a ton of quick-seal cerracrete, and 400 gallons of solvant gamma, the crew recovered the object, which was, indeed a large, Melan stasis platform. The control system has an extensive computer system incoporated into it, but without Zen, the crew cannot operate it.
The crew brought the platform back to a small moon of the former Republic, and disconnected the anti-matter power supply. The platform was filled with several dozen semi-sentient crustacean beings, which the crew called Verm. The Verm escaped the area, and swarmed over the moon's nearby forrest.
The Verm are led by a smaller female with a much larger brain cavity. Why they were placed on the platform is unknown.
Despite large scale hunting efforts, the Verm queen could not be found. Desperate to protect the moon's inhabitants, Merlmer ordered Kress, Ramirez and Maalor to design a chemo-bological weapon which could kill the Verm, but leave the planet's ecosystem untouched.
The weapon killed the Verm queen and her bodygaurds before they could breed a new generation of Verm. All the verm are now believed to have been accounted for. The crew has stocked up several doses of the weapon, however. It will also be used as a prime ingredient in the new line of Klargian Mint Tea.
According to official Klargian records, these events never took place.

Synopsis:

The crew, still on Alfa Sigma, worries about the object burried in the sand. If it IS a stasis platform, they can't afford to leave it. They fear that Federation Intellegence will hear of the discovery, and "acquire" the item.
