Research Interests:

Broadly, my current research interests are understanding and exploiting nanomechanical phenomena. On the fundamental level this involves developing theoretical understanding mechanical behavior at the nanoscale and how it influences the growth, morphology, and structure-property relationships of nanoscale materials. On the applied side I am interested in conceiving novel applications for nanomechanical phenomena, and demonstrating their feasibility using theory and computer simulation.

Presently I am working on projects to:

  1. understand intrinsic damping in carbon nanotube resonators.

  2. understand the transfer of vibrational energy between nanosacle objects

  3. studying the feasibility of a novel form of chemical detection using nanomechanical spectroscopy

  4. Using computer simulation to develope a nanomechanical based ultra high frequency bandpass filter.
