The freshman project class 5.92 has spent the semester exploring ways to make Cambridge more sustainable. Three projects are being pursued: analysis of renewable energy options at Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School (CRLS), feasibility assessment for capture of energy released by the MIT nuclear reactor, and quantification of the wind power resource available at MIT. These projects all explore ways to reduce Cambridge's carbon footprint and utilize sustainable energy resources. Thanks to the efforts of the student teams and support from enthusiastic community partners, all three projects have interesting results to report. The poster will illustrate the projects, show some preliminary data and interpretation, and show how much fun learning about energy and the environment can be.
