| The SUHPA research project is about the design and research of community housing that is an integration between sustainability, urban density, community need, and material and technological development for a new form of urban housing that is energy self sufficient and carbon negative. It will be primary focused upon ‘next generation’ innovations for pre-manufactured urban housing. The intention is to eventually build a prototype cluster of houses close to MIT, followed by a larger developer funded project in the Boston region. Studies are being developed that test out potential design strategies on MIT owned sites in Cambridgeport. |
