Job Description

LECTURER IN WRITING ACROSS THE CURRICULUM, Humanities (nine-month contract), to be responsible for the codevelopment and coimplementation of a communication program for Communication Intensive (CI) courses in biology, chemistry, and chemical engineering. Will work with course instructional staff (faculty and technical instructors) to develop assignments that teach the fundamentals of scientific and technical writing and speaking, teach attached writing practicum sections, and evaluate and respond to student writing. Will also be responsible for coordinating other lecturers from the Program in Writing and Humanistic Studies teaching in these classes. Will work under the supervision of the Director of Writing Across the Curriculum. REQUIREMENTS: substantial experience teaching writing and speaking in the biological, chemical, or health sciences; an earned doctorate or equivalent experience in the teaching of writing, chemistry, or biology; and excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with faculty, students, administrative staff. Administrative and supervisory experience preferred. The initial appointment is for three years. Salary is commensurate with experience. Application deadline: May 8, 2002. 02-0321
