Job Description

WATCH SUPERVISOR, Facilities, to be responsible for supervising the activities of an assigned shift, planning, organizing, and supervising operations to assure that plant reliability, safety, and environmental requirements are met. Will directly supervise shift operators; establish plant operating configuration and equipment selection for plant loads; maintain reports of downtimes, outages, repair requirements, and personnel concerns; assist in preparing reports, reviewing procedures, and investigating operating incidents/abnormalities; generate maintenance work requests; maintain strong communications with those at all levels both inside and outside MIT; train new employees; manage confined space entry paperwork; maintain control and custody of operations and lockout/tagout log; supervise operation of plant equipment and switchgear; maintain station by way of consistent housekeeping and safety checks; establish and monitor chilled water temperatures and pressures for ambient conditions; monitor water treatment status and supervise needed supplemental treatment; and be responsible for wastewater discharge compliance. REQUIREMENTS: second class stationary engineer, grade 2 waste-water treatment license; directly related experience in a power plant; one year of supervisory experience; demonstrated knowledge of operations and maintenance tasks, generating equipment, fuel handling, and labor and cleaning functions; working knowledge of the function of plant engineering; and excellent oral and written communications skills. Must be able to perform all shift operator functions and tasks, recognize operation problems, and handle or recommend resolutions. Must be able to work all shifts. (Schedule for the position includes working four weekdays, 6:00 P.M. to 6:00 A.M.) 02-0610P
