Job Description

HEAD COACH, WOMEN'S LIGHTWEIGHT CREW, Athletics, to manage all facets of the women's lightweight crew program, i.e., administration, budget management, fund-raising, recruiting, competition scheduling, team travel, weekly practice sessions, counseling students, scrupulous compliance with NCAA and conference rules and regulations, and other duties as assigned (which may include teaching in the Physical Education Program). Will lead a quality varsity program that is competitively challenging and fun for participating students; schedule home and away contests including working with other host institutions and MIT personnel in event management; defining budget needs including equipment, team travel, uniforms, and personnel; oversee all administrative aspects of team travel from defining expenses to prompt completion of travel expense reports; review admissions applications and propose candidates; participate in collaborative activities across the Department for Student Life; recruit and mentor assistant coaches; provide team statistics to Sports Information Director; and adhere to regulations and completion of forms associated with MIT, conference, and national governance regulations at the NCAA Division III membership level. Fund-raising responsibilities include building and maintaining relationships with alumni through newsletters, phonathons, and department alumni activities. REQUIREMENTS: five or more years' head coaching experience at the high school, college, university, or club level. Bachelor's degree preferred. Demonstrated success building and sustaining a competitive, high-quality rowing program needed. (This is an annual interim appointment.) 02-0893
