Job Description

TECHNICAL ASSISTANT, Biology, to study lipoprotein and lipid metabolism. The position involves assisting in maintaining mouse colonies, taking blood and tissue specimens, performing microscopic analysis of animal tissues including histochemistry and immunohistochemistry, and participating in other experiments as needed. May be involved in performing surgeries on mice and acquiring EKGs from these animals. REQUIREMENTS: a bachelor's or master's degree in biological sciences; and experience using at least some of the following techniques: histology and immunohistochemistry, surgery on laboratory animals, or reading EKGs. Experience with standard laboratory techniques needed, including micropipeting, gel electrophoresis, immunoblotting, DNA isolation, and PCR. Experience working on one or more scientific projects preferred, especially those related to cardiovascular pathophysiology. Good organizational and interpersonal skills also preferred. Evaluations by previous research supervisors should be available. 02-0907
