Description TECHNICAL ASSISTANT, Biology, to study cytoskeletal control of cell and neuronal growth cone motility. The research combines techniques in molecular and cellular biology, transgenesis, and high resolution imaging. The work involves organizing and maintaining mouse colonies; taking tissue specimens; and performing molecular biological techniques such as PCR and cloning, cell culture, and protein isolation. In addition to experimental work, will order lab supplies and assist with general lab maintenance. The opportunity to work on more advanced or independent projects exists. REQUIREMENTS: a bachelor's or master's degree in biological sciences. Experience with at least some of the following required: working with mice, DNA isolation, PCR, subcloning, mammalian cell culture, and protein purification. Experience with standard laboratory techniques needed, i.e., micropipeting, solution preparation, and gel electrophoresis. Experience working on one or more scientific projects preferred, especially those related to mouse development or cell biology. Good organizational and interpersonal skills essential. Evaluations by previous research supervisors should be available. 02-1030 Location
