Job Description

TECHNICAL ASSISTANT, Biology, to work on research projects related to RNA splicing and alternative splicing in mammalian systems along with postdocs and graduate students in the Computational Molecular Biology Lab. The Burge Lab uses a combination of computational and experimental methods to study mechanisms of gene expression in eukaryotes. Responsibilities will include standard molecular biology techniques such as DNA and RNA purification, gel electrophoresis, RT-PCR, Northern analysis, RNAse protection, maintenance of tissue culture cells, and FACS analysis. Will also order small equipment and supplies and maintain lab web pages. Strong candidates will have the opportunity to pursue independent research projects. REQUIREMENTS: a bachelor's degree or higher in biological sciences or related field, at least one to two years of relevant lab experience, and familiarity with at least some of the techniques listed above. An interest in computers and bioinformatics and experience with HTML desirable. 02-1036
