Description TECHNICAL ASSISTANT, Biological Engineering Division, to assist in molecular biology research on biomolecular materials and bioelectronics. Primary duties include molecular biology research and managing daily laboratory routines. Will also conduct experiments screening phage libraries; perform DNA isolation, amplification and cloning, DNA sequencing, and other molecular biology techniques; and handle complete laboratory management duties including supervision of graduate and undergraduate students, ordering supplies, maintaining equipment service records and service contracts, helping to prepare manuscripts and grant proposals, and completing other research assistant functions as assigned. REQUIREMENTS: a bachelor's degree in a field of natural science including coursework in biochemistry; experience in enzyme assays and recombinant DNA techniques including cloning, sequencing, and sterile techniques; two or more years of laboratory experience using molecular biology techniques including working with phage libraries, a minimum of six semester hours in biochemistry, and one or more years of experience in laboratory management. Must be able to function effectively both independently and as a team member. Good safety habits and the ability to accept supervision desired. 02-1063 Location
